I am often behind on online video sharing sites like YouTube, 5min, Metacafe, etc. If I remember any other video I download it. I use Firefox’s Download Helper extension to download videos from these online video sharing sites. But it doesn’t work at all. Ex: Can’t download many videos at once, cannot resume.

Today, I got an open-source tool called butterfly video download xVideoServiceThief. xVideoServiceThief allows you to subtract video from almost any online video sharing site on top 5.

Just copy and paste the URL from the browser and release it.

What I like best is that it can automatically convert from FLV format to AVI, MPEG1, MPEG2, WMV, MP4, 3GP, MP3 formats.

Its interface is very nice and user-friendly which attracts me even more. And it can be downloaded as much as you like, download videos, resumes (sites that support resumes, not Youtube). It displays information such as how many videos, how many speeds are downloaded, and it’s a status bar. Since it’s still in the alpha version, it’s normal to have a bug. However, I have not found any bugs while downloading videos from other favourite sites.

In a word, xVideoServiceThief is a great tool for downloading videos from online video sharing sites. I can now wash videos without any hassle. I’m now counting on the full version release day.
